(Courtesy of Migdal Ohr) The Third Annual BASHMO was Midal Ohr’s largest yet, with nearly 300 people from neighborhoods like New Milford, Teaneck, Englewood, Bergenfield, Monsey, Riverdale and New York City who came out to show their love and support for Israel’s children.
When it was obvious that the event could no longer be held outdoors, due to the orange smog blanketing the area, Migdal Ohr’s friends at Yeshivat Frisch graciously offered their gymnasium. With 24 hours to go, the event committee worked tirelessly to rework the plan and host an evening of inspiration. The gala ended up raising an incredible $100,000 for orphaned and underprivileged children in Israel.
Many people were inspired to sponsor specific items such as tefillin, baby formula, summer clothing, medical items, and anything that the children would need. Now, instead of worrying about the basic necessities, children from Israel’s poorest families will have a summer packed with experiences, fun and adventure.
Migdal Ohr is appreciative of its gracious hosts Arianne and Moshe Weinberger for opening their home, Rabbi Eli Ciner and Yeshivat Frisch for opening their doors last minute, and to the dedicated event chairs for making this BASHMO a night to remember: Jamie and Shmully Ash, Shani and Daniel Finn, Dahlia Goldbrenner, Jenna and Sam Goldstein, Daniella and Dovid Katz, Batya and Nachman Paul, Elissa and Steven Seltzer, Debra Paul Singer and Tal Singer, Debbie and David Singfer, Erica and Tzvi Solomon.
