Winners of the competition may receive up to $15,000 to fund their ideas.
(Courtesy of Milstein Foundation) Los Angeles—The Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation this week announced its first-ever competition for college students to plan and execute incredible pro-Israel initiatives, with winners eligible to receive grants of up to $15,000 to fund their ideas. Finalists will present their initiatives at the March 2018 American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.
The Milstein Family Foundation Innovation Competition encourages students to submit never-been-done-before, out-of-the-box, pro-Israel ideas, initiatives, projects, programs or events that will advance the cause of pro-Israel advocacy on campus.
“This competition will empower the next generation of pro-Israel advocates to strengthen the state of Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people,” philanthropist Adam Milstein said. “I am very excited to see what new ideas these students will send us and how incentivizing creativity will help strengthen Israel and the pro-Israel community.”
Three finalists will present their initiatives at the Milstein Student Reception at AIPAC, where a panel of philanthropist judges, including Gila and Adam Milstein, will make the final funding decisions. Following the presentations, Milstein Fellows attending the reception will vote for their favorite project on their mobile devices—and the audience favorite will automatically be awarded an additional $1,000. At the end of the reception, the judges will announce their decisions.
Current college students, or groups of college students, must submit a full application before February 9 online at https://goo.gl/forms/cFH9PREuJA8mUZ6p2. On February 16, judges will invite five semi-finalists to submit four-minute pitch videos before February 23. The three finalists will be announced on February 27.
The submissions to the competition must be able to be implemented on five to 15 college campuses within one year. The winners will also receive support in carrying out their plans from the Milstein Family Foundation staff, whose expertise and experience in pro-Israel advocacy will help maximize impact. Contest entrants can email [email protected] with questions about the competition.
