On Tuesday March 8th, at the Museum for Jewish Heritage (36 Battery Place, NYC) Rabbi Dr. Norman Lamm, former President and Chancellor of Yeshiva University will receive a Rabbinic Leadership Award and Teaneck’s own Barry and Joy Sklar and Yudi Hercenberg will be Guests of Honor at the Manhattan Jewish Experience (MJE)’s Annual Dinner. For the last eight years Barry and Joy Sklar have graciously hosted MJE Shabbatons in Teaneck together with the Roemer Synagogue. As an active member of MJE’s Fusion Team, Yudi Hercenberg has helped with MJE’s Kiruv work in Manhattan, recruiting and following up with hundreds of participants.
Founded by Rabbi Mark Wildes in 1998, MJE is a highly successful outreach program that has reconnected thousands of young men and women with Judaism and the Jewish community and provided a venue through which 253 couples have met or married. With three sites in different neighborhoods in New York City, MJE’s effectiveness in engaging young Jewish women and men emerges from its warm and open environment, and from its array of stimulating and innovative Jewish social and educational programming including Shabbat Dinners, engaging Torah study classes, Retreats and trips to Israel, and much more.
