Jewish Home Family to Host Final Parkinson’s Support Group of the Season

(Courtesy of The Jewish Home) The Jewish Home Family is happy to welcome back Dr. Elana Clar to its Parkinson’s Support Group. Dr. Clar will provide the latest updates and information regarding Deep Brain Stimulation for those dealing with the symptoms associated with Parkinson’s Disease. She’ll discuss the procedure as a potential option to treat motor function symptoms, discuss what a good potential DBS candidate looks like and share experiences from some of her current DBS patients. Dr. Clar welcomes questions and will leave plenty of time to address yours at the end of her presentation.

Dr. Clar earned her Bachelor of Science degree with magna cum laude honors at University of California, Irvine before continuing to medical school at New York Medical College. She completed her neurology residency training at Georgetown University, where she was recognized with multiple awards for excellence in teaching. Dr. Clar subsequently undertook a two-year fellowship in Movement Disorders at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, while focusing on subspecialty training in Deep Brain Stimulation. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Movement Disorders Society and the American Medical Association. In addition to her surgical expertise with DBS, she treats all conditions in Movement Disorders: Parkinson Disease, atypical Parkinsonism, essential tremor and more.
