Elie Tanous opened his eponymous hair salon in 2018, where he has been styling hair and sheitels for everyday, care-free, comfortable looks and glamorous special occasions. After customers began requesting someone to also do their makeup, he added a makeup artist. Another request he heard frequently was for manicures and pedicures. He listened and created Elie Tanous Salon · The Nail Studio, one floor down from the hair salon at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, New Jersey. Elie Tanous · The Nail Studio has the highest quality gel, acrylics, powder and polish brands, known for their superior staying power, in classic and new colors. Stylists are well versed in precision applications, spa treatments and eye-catching designs. At a festive grand opening celebration on April 21, complete with a kosher buffet, Mayor John P. Labrosse Jr. of Hackensack cut the ribbon, aided by Tanous’ proud family.

With the opening of Elie Tanous Salon · The Nail Studio, women have yet another service in one place to get ready for a simcha or any event. Long-time client Lorna Blumenthal of Teaneck, who helped set up the salon for the grand opening, said she goes to Elie for her regular cut and style maintenance and for special occasions, like weddings and bar mitzvahs. “It’s one-stop shopping,” she said. “It’s beautiful. I feel pampered. When I sit down to have my hair, makeup or nails done, someone is asking if I want coffee, a cookie—even champagne. It’s a high-end salon but no one is snobby—they’re talented and kind. Elie is a real mensch.”

Elie and his team also travel to homes and venues to do hair and makeup for special events. When a friend of Lorna’s in Long Island was looking for someone to do her makeup for her grandson’s Sunday-morning bar mitzvah, Lorna sent the Elie Tanous Salon makeup artist to her home as a gift.

Rachel Waldman of Englewood began going to Elie Tanous Salon after being referred by a friend, and started bringing her two daughters as well. “No one does my hair like Elie,” she said. “He offers advice and tips if you’re not sure what you want. I go so often, that he’s become a friend. I go to him for style tips for my clothing and my house. He knows how to make everything look perfect!” Elie came to Rachel’s home before her youngest daughter’s bat mitzvah in December to style hair for her, the bat mitzvah girl and her older sister.

For brides, Elie Tanous Salon offers a trial hair styling. The fee is applied to the grand total on the day of the event if the bride uses his services.
