Moriah 6B Advances to the Semis

It was a great night for The Moriah School. After the sixth grade girls defeated MDS in round one of the playoffs, it was now time for the boys to shine against RPRY.

Moriah started off on a 4-0 run, with two quick steals by Rafi Lewis, who dished off to Isaac Horowitz for the first 4 points. Horowitz went on to score 9 in the first quarter, and led Moriah with his season high 17 points and 12 rebounds. Gaby Katz also contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds. However, unlike the last time these teams faced off, RPRY looked hungry and ready to beat Moriah. The two teams were neck and neck the entire first half, with the score 24-22, Moriah in the lead. Yoni Berg’s 10 points and aggressiveness led RPRY along with Nadav Callen’s 8 points and incredible jump shooting to help RPRY put up a great fight.

From the third quarter and on, Moriah jumped ahead and never looked back. They dominated on the glass, out-rebounding Coach Ostrin’s squad, 55-27. Moriah’s Coby Kinzelberg played his heart out, especially on the fast break. Kinzelberg had 7 points and 4 steals. Also, Jon Comet had a solid performance, leading the team with 4 assists and a victory with the score 58-36.

Moriah, with home court-advantage, will move on to the semis and play SAR.
