On December 8th, the Solomon Schechter of Bergen County’s 7th grade boys’ basketball team traveled to the Moriah School, hoping to record its first win of the season. As soon as the clock started, Moriah’s Rafi Lewis and Jon Comet took control of the game. Together, they each had numerous steals, assists, and fast breaks. Throughout the first half, Moriah’s offense was just cooking, especially from Ethan Schechter and Isaac Froman’s jump shots. Moriah went on to lead the first half, 26-6.
In the 2nd half, SSBC’s Caleb Ungar showed off his defensive skills, as he recorded many jump balls and steals. However, SSBC was not able to stop Eitan Chasman, as he led Moriah with 10 points, along with Joseph Forman’s 8 points.
Although SSBC outscored Moriah in the 4th quarter, 20-18, Moriah managed to get the win, 57-38, with another spectacular performance by Comet.
Stay tuned for Moriah’s big challenge next week, when it faces Yeshivat Noam for the first time since last year’s championship game.
