Moriah eighth grade engineering club students participated in the second annual MakerXpo at the CIJE Innovation Day at the New York Hilton on Sunday, May 7. Students worked with their science teacher, Mrs. Sandra Knoll, to develop useful designs. Using the engineering design process, the students conducted research, wrote design briefs and brought their ideas to life. Moriah presented three innovative original booths. They showcased a glove controlled robot car, a Mike and Ike candy color sorting machine, and a DIY Pringle Popper allowing the chips to be brought to the top of the canister for easy access. Moriah students proudly stood by their projects and explained to visitors the engineering concepts and how their ideas came to fruition. They were able to explain the technology they used and the reason their designs were useful. Moriah students loved working on these creative projects!
