As a part of the “Names, Not Numbers©” program, all of the Moriah eighth grade students had the opportunity to visit the Auschwitz exhibit at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. Led by their teachers and the museum’s director of education, each student was provided with guidance while walking through the startling exhibit. The exhibition is a collection of unique artifacts from the time of the Holocaust. Plus, in powerful fashion, the museum cultivated audio and video accompaniments which detail the results of World War I, Hitler’s rise to power and, sadly, the atrocities of the Holocaust. As eighth grader Rueben Kaminetzky remarked, “This is an exhibit each Jew must see.” Following the visit to the museum eighth graders enjoyed a beautiful picnic lunch in Battery Park.
