Moriah Fifth Graders Donate Socks to the Homeless

On Wednesday evening, December 6, Moriah fifth graders in classes 5-2 and 5-3 gathered at Sharon Herenstein’s home with their teachers for a very special Chanukah celebration. Adina Lichtman, founder of the organization “Knock, Kock, Give a Sock” discussed the problem of homelessness in our area. She explained how important it is for homeless people to be respected, encouraged and recognized, especially during holiday time over the cold winter months. Each student brought a pair of socks to donate to the organization and also made cards and decorated cookies that will be distributed over the coming days. As the Chanukah lights shone brightly, this was a wonderful way to demonstrate chesed to people less fortunate than ourselves.
