Last week, Moriah held its 21st annual sixth grade Heritage Fair. The students presented the projects they developed under the guidance of Rachel Schwartz and Jessica Sehgal, and the technical support of Rachel Kaminetzky, to a crowd of very proud parents, grandparents and friends.
Developing the Heritage Fair is a unique educational experience in which the students document and preserve artifacts that are part of their personal family history. Items included art, personal letters, Judaica and war memorabilia. At the fair, the students presented the artifacts along with the story that the item represents. In this way, the sixth graders are able to share the memory and traditions of their individual families with their peers through a modality that is meaningful and long-lasting.
