The kindergarten children love spending time with their fifth grade buddies. This month’s theme was “All About My Buddy.” The students shared information about themselves, then wrote and illustrated a book. The purpose of the buddy program is to enable the kindergarten children to get together with the fifth graders once a month. Each child is paired with a buddy, and they interact with that same buddy every time they meet. There is a different shared activity every time, with the older and younger children working side by side. The program is meant to foster a sense of camaraderie and a sense of sharing with one another that enables each child to feel valued and appreciated. The buddies are looking forward to seeing each other again next month!
