The Moriah School kindergartners recently enjoyed a very special celebration—the completion of their star name unit. Over the past several months, every child and morah in their class had the opportunity to be the star name. They examined their name, noting the spelling, what letter the name begins with and how many syllables are in the name. In addition, they zeroed in on one specific detail about each name, helping them grow as readers and writers.

As a star name, each person was interviewed. The class asked the star name about their family and to tell the class a favorite food that they like to eat. The information was written in a book and illustrated by the star name person. When the book was completed, it was read aloud to the class. Their class now has everyone’s star name books in their class library.
