As Moriah kindergarten children are familiar with letters, numbers and shapes, they have had the opportunities to actualize from 2D form to 3D in a number of different ways. In a math challenge this week, each child was presented with a series of task cards, each with a different creative task. Following the direction and illustration, they designed the particular letter or figure, using small colored sticks. The children analyzed, compared and created a variety of items, in different sizes and with different orientations. This was followed by a crayon rendering of the actual design, to record their work. This was the second opportunity for the children to work with these mini sticks, and the tasks were a little more challenging and fun! This activity reinforced geometric concepts, while supporting the creative process.
