As the season of fall is here, The Moriah kindergarten has been discussing the outdoor foliage and how the plants develop and evolve through the seasons. They studied apples and apple trees, and pumpkins and pumpkin vines. They have been observing the trees outdoors and decided it would be a great idea to select one tree on the Moriah grounds that would be their tree. The class walked around outside, and selected a lovely red-fruited dogwood. Using paper, clipboards and colored pencils, the children sketched and wrote about their observations of the tree. They noted the shape of the trunk, branches and roots, and that there are beautiful red berries adorning the tree. The kindergartners plan to visit their tree again soon, make close observations and add another entry to their records. They look forward to accumulating data on their tree’s changes throughout the seasons!
