This year, Moriah middle school will continue instituting and modifying the standards-based learning program initiated last year in Gemara classes. The teachers have split up the Gemara scientifically into four primary domains—content, functional structures, vocabulary and reading. These domains help the teachers identify where students need more support and where they are succeeding. Complimenting this structure are Moriah’s beautiful new workbooks for masechet Berachot. These workbooks isolate the different domains in a way that perfectly supplements the units to target students’ needs and expand their understanding and appreciation for the Gemara. The students are improving on their foundational and analytical skills and gaining tremendously from this program. Students are also excitedly working on dinei Pesach, the Laws of Passover, in each of the classes to best prepare for the upcoming holiday.
