Moriah Middle School Has Chanukah Fun

Moriah middle school students had an amazing and jam packed Chanukah week! Students started off with dreidel cookie decorating and continued with the annual Moriah Reads Day, where students had the opportunity to participate in all different lessons and activities about the book, “The Six Day Hero.” The day also included a game show, where the girls had a close call victory against the boys. The week then continued with Maccabiah! Students were divided into four teams of Neis, Gadol, Haya and Sham and did an unbelievable job competing in various activities, such as sports competitions, art, videos, online Chanukah trivia games, divrei Torah and more.

The week ended off on a high with middle school-wide Panoply and an interactive Havdala lesson, based on the school theme of the year, where students had the chance to learn more about Havdala and create their own wax candles, besamim and placemats. The day concluded with an oneg and the announcement of the Chanukah Chinese Auction winners, in which teachers volunteered all sorts of awesome prizes for students to win. Everyone enjoyed hearing divrei Torah from the rebbeim each afternoon before davening Maariv and lighting the menorah together. On the last day of Chanukah students participated in a school-wide cross-grade learning program, focused on the topic of spreading the light.
