Moriah Middle School Learns in Advisory

In Moriah Advisory classes, each grade is working on targeted skills that are relevant to them at this time.

The sixth grade has been focused on how to be a good friend. They have discussed issues including how to say no to a play date without hurting the other person’s feelings and how to invite friends over without making others feel left out.

The seventh grade students are developing and practicing new study skills and organization techniques. Everyone had a great time helping each other to create and implement personalized time management plans that will be useful for finals that are right around the corner.

The eighth grade will soon be focused on high school readiness. After consulting with several high schools in the area, the advisory department has compiled a list of issues that are common among ninth graders. The students will discuss issues such as stress management, shifts in friendship, self-respect and safety.
