Moriah middle school students and faculty filled the beit haknesset for the Yom Hazikaron presentation by the eighth grade class.. After a moment of silence while the siren wailed, the students started the assembly by reading mishaberach prayers. The students then watched a video and learned more about a few of the Israeli soldiers who have lost their lives in recent years. Not a sound was heard from the audience during the hour-long presentation. The students were really moved when middle school principal Tzipporah Boim shared her personal story of her family’s loss of her brother in law. The Yom Hazikaron assembly is a crucial part of Moriah’s curriculum designed to build a deeper connection to Eretz Israel among the students.
