This week Moriah’s nursery explored the fall season. Their discussions led them outside on a leaf walk. They observed different colors, shapes and sizes of leaves. They also encountered trees with leaves, trees without leaves and trees that stay green throughout the winter. The students gathered their favorites and had a closer look in the classroom after reading the book, “Leaves Fall Down” by Lisa Bullard. They learned how the leaves absorb sunlight in the summer and chlorophyll gives them their green color. Then they used their leaves to practice their cutting skills when they cut them up for their leaf name collage.
