Moriah Over Kushner in the YMSSA Girls Hockey Championship

The YMSSA girls championship hockey game was played Monday night, June 1. Moriah finished the season 6-1. Their only loss was to Kushner, who finished the season 5-1-1. Both defenses played well, and there was no score when the first period ended. The Kushner and Moriah goalies were exceptional, saving every shot on goal. Near the end of the second period, Moriah scored first, when Orlee Rosen passed the ball to Sarah Best who put it in the net. Despite Kushner’s tough play, Moriah went on to score four more goals. Sarah Best scored again off a pass from Lilly Fuchs, Talia Gellman scored off a pass from Sigal Benjamin, Joelle Solowiejczyk scored off a pass from Abby Sultanik and Kayla Seidel scored an unassisted goal.

The great defensive play from Rebecca Aduculesi and outstanding goalie play of Nava Markovich held the Kushner team to just one goal. The final score was Moriah 5 and Kushner 1. Both teams played a great game. Congratulations to Bella Goldsmith, Juliette Freilich and Lily Petak for their great play in helping winning a championship.
