Moriah Plus Is Ready for Summer 2018

(Courtesy of Moriah Plus) The transition between school and camp, both at the beginning and at the end of the summer, can be a busy and challenging time for most parents. Luckily, Moriah Plus has come up with a way to make these transition periods fun and stress free with the Moriah Plus Mini-Camps.

Moriah Plus is a Jewish, comprehensive after-school program based at The Moriah School in Englewood. What makes this program unique is that it is open to all Bergen County students from two years of age through eighth grade. Over 350 students from many local Jewish day schools and public schools come together for afternoons of fun in a welcoming and warm environment. Moriah Plus offers these children the opportunity to make new friends outside of their school, while participating in engaging extracurricular activities.

With a variety of over 50 recreational classes to choose from, it’s no wonder that Moriah Plus is sought out by parents all across Bergen County. “We strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where each child feels a sense of unity while making new friends,” said Gila Comet, co-director of Moriah Plus.

“Everyone has a home here,” said Debby Prince, co-director of Moriah Plus. “We offer an array of programming including basketball, ballet, gymnastics, hip-hop dance, flag football, graffiti art and more. Our program is especially helpful in connecting children socially by introducing them to a new group of friends with similar interests.”

“We have the ability to create any class if there is a desire for it,” said Mrs. Comet. “We started fencing, graffiti art and golf at the parents’ request. To ensure the quality of the classes, every instructor is certified in their field and must complete a background check.”

“Unlike some other after-school programs, our instructors take a very hands-on approach so that every child receives proper attention,” added Mrs. Prince.

In order to continue providing inclusivity and service to parents, Moriah Plus offers a mini-camp both at the beginning and at the end of the summer that is open to all Bergen County day school students. Alongside the regular camp activities, Moriah Plus has recreational specialty classes running throughout the day. This gives the campers a taste of each class and allows them to experience the excitement and warmth of the program that is offered throughout the school year.

This year there will be two sessions of Moriah Plus Mini-Camp. The first session will run from Thursday, June 21, through Friday, June 22, and the second session will run from Monday, August 20, through Friday, August 31, and is open to all Bergen County children ages two years old through eighth grade.
