Moriah Pre-K Celebrates Lag B’Omer

Moriah pre-k had so much fun learning all about Lag B’Omer! Students explored the amazing life story of Rabbi Akiva, from his days as a shepherd to becoming a beloved Rebbe. Rabbi Akiva taught about a very important mitzvah, “v’ahavta l’reacha kamocha, love your neighbor as yourself.”

Students talked about why there are bonfires lit on Lag B’Omer. They are not just for fun … they symbolize standing up to the Romans. They learned about heroes like Bar Chochvah and Rav Shimon Bar Yochai. Then they built our own “bonfire”! It was so cool seeing the flames light up the night! We even roasted “potatoes” over the fire! While enjoying the warmth of the fire, they sang Lag B’Omer songs, told Rabbi Akiva stories, and felt connected to their ancestors and their bravery!
