Moriah fourth graders recently “kicked-off” our integrative and exciting study of inventors and inventions with a Silent Silence Activity. Their mission was to “think outside the box” and figure out the purpose of an unusual kitchen gadget. The added challenge was to cooperatively communicate without speaking to their partner.
In class we are reading a biography on the esteemed inventor, Alexander Graham Bell, while honing their note taking skills. Experiencing the “invention process” through problem-solving activities includes several steps, some of which include brainstorming, planning the breadboard, designing the model, and producing the prototype. Our annual Invention Convention in April will showcase their unique inventions.
