The Moriah third graders are planet experts! Together as a class, they read about the solar system and were taught important space key words like orbits, diameters, atmospheres and rotations. The students were also taught about what else is in the solar system, aside from planets; things like asteroids, comets and meteors. The third graders loved learning about each planet as a class from a slide show and enjoyed watching videos about each plane. Then each child got to choose the planet that seemed most interesting to them. Every child was responsible for finding the important information they needed. They wrote what they learned in their own words, turning notes into sentences and sentences into paragraphs. Each child truly enjoyed conferencing with their teachers to edit their work and add more interesting details. The Moriah third graders created projects at home with the focus on reduce, reuse and recycle. They got to display and show all their hard work at planet night, which was truly out of this world!
