Moriah’s Early Childhood Honors Tu B’Shevat

In honor of Tu B’Shevat, Moriah pre-k students learned all about trees. They took a walk and observed the winter treescape around the Moriah campus. They saw evergreens, and trees without leaves. They read the story ‘A Tree is Nice,’ by Janice May Udry, and learned about all the important qualities trees have. Everyone thanked Hashem for the many gifts trees give such as oxygen, shade and fruit. Then the students brainstormed about what type of trees to plant if they could plant any type of tree. The culminating activity for the unit was a special class book called “If I Could Plant a Tree…” The children wrote about planting jellybean trees, coat trees, hat trees and television trees. What an orchard it would be.
