Moriah’s second graders are finding out more about themselves. In their second grade biography unit, students have extended their learning to read and write biographies about their friends, as well as autobiographies about themselves. The room buzzed with excitement as the students paired up with a friend they wanted to know better, interviewed their peers and compiled their information in a graphic organizer. The authors then did a fantastic job converting their notes into beautiful stories about their friends. In a story meeting, they learned how to proofread their documents for punctuation and spelling so that they could be proudly published in the class book! The glow on the students’ faces as they shared their stories and heard about themselves attested to how much they learned in this wonderful unit.
