Moriah Sixth Grade Girls Participate in Chai Lifeline Shabbaton

On Parshat Chaye Sarah, the Moriah sixth grade girls attended a special shabbaton run by Chai Lifeline at Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck. The shabbaton is organized annually by Faigy and Chezki Ort in memory of their daughter, Sari, who passed away several years ago from cancer. The Orts invite the bat mitzvah age girls from all the local Bergen County day schools to spend a Shabbat with Chai Lifeline campers, and the Moriah girls have always been enthusiastic participants.

On Shabbat day, the girls all arrived at Keter Torah for an inspiring lunch. The event began with the Chai Lifeline counselors playing games with all the campers and bat mitzvah girls. Then the girls ate lunch with the campers, got to know them and enjoyed spending time with them. The highlight of the lunch was when the Moriah girls performed an original song created by Emunah Faber and Brielle Weintraub titled, “The Greatest Parsha.” The Chai Lifeline campers loved it and asked for the girls to sing an encore.

After Shabbat, the sixth graders from all the local schools gathered at Yeshivat He’Atid for a fun-filled melava malka. The girls had a blast with the bat mitzvah motivator Shimi Adar. They created bath bombs and danced to lively music with the campers. This was a meaningful Shabbat that the Moriah girls will never forget. Many thanks to those families who hosted the girls, and to Morah Davida Greenberg who organized Moriah’s participation in this very special event.
