Moriah Students Compete In Math Masters

A team of eighth grade Moriah students participated in the 2024 Math Masters Tournament. This timed math competition consists of rigorous, engaging and challenging high level problems in all areas of mathematics. After trying out, five eighth grade students made the Moriah team: Ronnie Gologorsky, Yaakov Korn, Eli Lauer, Colby Levine and Lior Mhazri. Students practiced and prepared for the challenge of the competition.

On May 9, the team traveled to Kushner to compete with the 70 other middle school students. Each student completed as an individual and then worked with their teammates to compete against the 15 teams from many yeshiva day schools, including YNJ, Kushner, Noam, Yavneh, Golda Och and RPRY.

The Moriah Team, who call themselves the “Math is Fun” team, successfully completed and placed second place overall, bringing home a trophy for Moriah. Yaakov Korn was the overall winner out of all the eighth grade students at the competition, winning the first place trophy for his grade. This was an enriching and enjoyable experience for all who attended. Kol hakavod to Mrs. Rachel Kluger for preparing the students and to the math team on their success in this competition!
