Nothing makes parents and teachers more proud than to see children take initiative to help others in need. Over this past year, Moriah third and fourth graders Sophie Csillag, Racquel Haber, Avery Moskowitz, Izzy Nadritch, Lea Sholomon and Emmy Speiser have been hosting many lemonade and cookie stands on the corner of their block to raise money for the Hackensack Children’s Hospital. Some of the kids were able to come for some of the events and others came to all. Through the generous contributions of friends, neighbors and passersby like delivery men and police, the children’s raised a grand total of $356.32.
Yonina Haber, mother of Racquel, was able to arrange for the children to meet with Teresa Valentino, the director of development for the Hackensack Children’s Hospital. She explained to the children what the hospital does and expressed her appreciation for the amazing job the children did. The children will not stop their efforts as they already have begun planning for the upcoming year.
This experience has helped all of the children recognize how lucky they are and how good it makes them feel to give back to those who are not as lucky. Their parents and teachers are so proud of all of them.
