Kindergarten has been in “shadow land.” In conjunction with Groundhog Day, students were engrossed in a marvelous science unit about shadows. They experimented with various objects and became shadow detectives. The children enjoyed playing a “secret shadow” game; a projector provided light and the class guessed which objects would cast a shadow.
On one sunny day the students headed outside to find their own shadows. They played games with their shadows and created funny poses. The children discovered that when the sun is in front of them, the shadows are behind them; if the sun is behind them, their shadows are in front.
