Moshava Ba’ir MetroWest Has a Great Week Seven

Although Moshava Ba’ir MetroWest is nearing the end of the summer, there’s not a moment to waste! The seventh week of camp was focused on unity and team building, and the week kicked off with a visit from Living Legacy. Creating models of the Beit Hamikdash was an exciting and hands-on way to learn about Jerusalem and our Jewish homeland. This week was also filled with trips for almost all of the chanichim. On Tuesday eidot aleph, bet and gimmel went bowling and on Thursday eidot daled, hey and super-hey visited TD Bank Ballpark to watch the Somerset Patriots play the Hartford Yard Goats. The week concluded with an oneg Shabbat and everyone awaiting next week—the final week of camp!

This week, in chinuch, MBMW campers learned all about the incredible leadership of Daniel, as a key figure in Bavel, whose actions eventually led the Jewish people back to Eretz Yisrael (which they will learn about next week). They first learned about standing up for one’s Jewish beliefs in the face of adversity, as Daniel, Chananya, Mishael and Azarya refused to eat non-kosher food in Nevuchadnezzar’s palace. Campers also saw that they would rather risk their lives in the lion’s den and firefly furnace than bow down to idols. They learned how Daniel’s dream interpretations were instrumental in seeing the greatness of Hashem and Torah values. Lastly, they learned that many practices regarding Tefillah (such as praying toward Yerushalayim) come from Daniel and serve as a reminder that a Jew can serve Hashem from anywhere.
