MRD Education Technology Offers Chrome Class for Bergen County Teachers

Seth Dimbert

Teaneck—MRD Education Technology, a Teaneck-based consultancy servicing schools and businesses, announces The Chrome-Powered Classroom, a live, three-hour course designed to arm teachers of students in grades 2-12 with tools, techniques and strategies to use Google Chrome more effectively in their classroom.

The class will take place on June 7 from 7-10 p.m. at Office Evolution in Hackensack.

Seth Dimbert, MRD’s owner and the course presenter, is a long-time educator with years of experience helping teachers, schools and businesses implement technology to do important work more effectively and efficiently. Dimbert is a teacher, school administrator and a regular presenter at local, regional and national education and technology conferences.

“Much of the Chrome course is made up of material I’ve previously only shared in conference workshops,” Dimbert said. “These workshops often cost hundreds of dollars and can only be purchased by attendees who have already registered for and traveled to conferences in other cities. I’m excited to be able to partner with Office Evolution so we can offer the same content to local schools and teachers at a much more affordable price.”

According the website, the course will show teachers how to use the Chrome browser on any computer to perform many of the technological tasks common in today’s classroom, including creating, collecting, sharing and publishing class materials, creating flipped lessons and communicating effectively with parents. MRD is offering the course as part of their EdTech30 brand, which includes a growing number of both online and live courses for educators. The EdTech30 project began in 2015 as a month-long, online class teachers could take to learn “30 tools in 30 days” each summer. Since then, hundreds of teachers have participated and Dimbert hopes to build on that success.

“We’ve had a lot of teachers move through the online course and we’ve listened to their feedback and improved it,” he said. “The EdTech30 is now available year-round and teachers can move through at their own pace. The other thing they were looking for was live, in-person instruction, so we’re now offering that, too, starting with the Chrome course.”

There are a limited number of tickets still available for The Chrome-Powered Classroom and registration costs $150, with discounts available to schools who sign up multiple teachers. More information is available at www.edtech30.org.
