Two days after MTA suffered a heartbreaking loss to the top seeded Hillel Heat, the Lions bounced back with an impressive win over the Kushner Cobras. The Lions started off the game shooting strong with several three pointers made by guards Ikey Gutlove and Yosef Zakon, but the Cobras offensive rebounding kept the game tight. At halftime, the scoreboard displayed the Lions winning, but only by a minimal margin, which would change in the second half.
During halftime, Lions’ Coach Weissberg gave a motivational speech, emphasizing how all the players needed to demonstrate their capability to play as a unit on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court and the game plan was certainly executed.
Throughout the second half, the Lions made sure to talk on defense amongst themselves in order to keep all the rotations moving properly, preventing offensive opportunities for the Cobras.
Late in the game, Lions guard Tzvi Zigelstein was able to pick off many of Kushner’s attempted passes resulting in easy fastbreak points for the Lions leading them to victory.
Once the game was over, the Lions were very proud of their efforts, but were gratified when they checked the Yeshiva League Pass Instagram page which displayed the nightly game recap, showing the Lions as victorious with a final score of 47-38.
