The MTA Lions Chess Team played the reigning champions, Ramaz, this past Wednesday. With the notable absence of junior Noam Putterman from MTA’s second board, the Lions dug into the reserves and were still able to dominate. After a strong first match, featuring six wins and only one loss for MTA, the Lions finished strong and ended the day with a team score of 10.5-3.5. This win earned the Lions the tiebreaker over their division rivals and sent a strong message to the rest of the league. MTA looks to continue along this path and take home a championship come the season’s end.
