Last Tuesday was MTA’s annual College Night for Juniors and their parents. The event is the highlight of the Juniors’ College Guidance year, where they have the chance to meet with representatives of the colleges that interest MTA talmidim.
The keynote speaker was Mrs. Geri Mansdorf, Assistant Vice President at YU and a longtime admissions officer, who shared tips with the talmidim about how to think about choosing a college and how best to present yourself.
A particular treat for the talmidim was the presence of two alumni, Elliot Canter ‘22 and Eitan Rochwarger ‘23, who came to represent The Cooper Union and Macaulay Honors at CUNY, respectively. Their insights about both how they were admitted and their on-campus experiences were incredibly helpful.
The evening continued with a to-do session with MTA College Guidance, in which Juniors and their parents were walked through a calendar of how they should be spending the next seven to ten months. From planning college visits to studying for standardized tests, from requesting the right recommendations to writing and rewriting essays, it will be a busy time. But the talmidim and their parents are excited and confident that good opportunities await them if they do what they need to.
All in all, the MTA class of 2026 is poised to join its older brothers in establishing another impressive list of college admissions.
