Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Coming off a disappointing loss to TABC a few nights before, the MTA varsity Lions were eager to get back in the win column Monday night against the Waterbury Wolfpack. In the opening minutes of the game, the Lions displayed their lockdown defense forcing the opposing offense to commit several turnovers, creating easy offensive opportunities for the Lions. Despite the lockdown defense by the Lions, the Wolfpack were able to keep the game close due to the stellar offensive play of their big men creating easy chances to score.

The contest was neck and neck until the final minute of the game when the Lions hit several shots to seal the deal. Between Elie Goldberg’s clutch three pointer and Tani Engel’s free throw to put the icing on the cake, the Wolfpack were unable to make a comeback. When the final buzzer sounded the scoreboard displayed the score of 44-40 in favor of the Lions. This victory helped the Lions keep their heads held high as they strive to clinch a playoff birth, and hopefully take home the hardware as Yeshiva League champions.
