MTA Repeats as Weiselberg Tournament Sponsor

The Martin Weiselberg Memorial Tournament is proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, the event has fostered a partnership with the Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/MTA. Last year, MTA became the first Yeshiva High School in the decade-long existence of the event to become a sponsor and The Martin Weiselberg Memorial Tournament is honored to be associated with a school with such a rich and long-standing hockey tradition as MTA.

An original member of the Metropolitan Yeshiva High School Hockey League, MTA, Yeshiva University’s High School for Boys, is one of the winningest programs, having achieved eight varsity titles in the league’s 36 year span. Of the ten tournament Most Valuable Player awards, three have gone to eventual Lions players, more than any other high school. These include current MTA JV Head Coach Noah Isaacs, as well as Ami Rosenfeld, who won the award twice; his two older brothers, Eitan and current MTA Varsity Head Coach Gabe, both Lions players, each won All-Tournament team awards during their years of participation.

“MTA continues to shine as an example in recognizing how meaningful the tournament is to the kids, given how many of their students have participated, and we are excited at their continuing presence at our event,” says tournament director Elliot Weiselberg. “We hope that the connection between the Martin Weiselberg Memorial Tournament and MTA will help our event reach new heights on both the competitive and charitable levels in our quest to aid Hatzolah.”

The 2016 Martin Weiselberg Memorial Tournament will take place this coming Sunday, May 22, from 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at Yeshiva Har Torah in Bellerose, Queens.
