Last week the MTA Lionotics robotics team competed in a playoff qualifying tournament. The day started with five qualifying matches, in which teams played randomly selected opponents to determine who would advance to the playoffs. Lionotics won all five matches, earning them the number two spot in the playoff bracket, behind only Stuyvesant High School. Their strong performance in the first part of the day earned them a spot in the NYC championships on March 5, where they will have another chance to compete with the 24 best teams in the city. The season started with over 100 teams; The Lionotics are one of only 24 teams remaining.
