MTA Sweeps National Boys Bekius Competition

During the past academic year, Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA) joined over thirty yeshiva high schools and more than 250 students across the country in the Bronka Weintraub Bekius program, in which students learned and were regularly tested on Gemara bekius; this year the massechta studied was Makkos.

The program awarded close to $11,000 towards the purchase of sefarim for those who excelled on their tests, and certificates will be sent out to all of the students who completed the entire learning program and sat for all of the exams. The daf track offered top prizes of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 to those who achieved the three highest scores, while the amud track presented top prizes of $1,500, $1,000 and $500.

Incredibly, MTA students swept the three prizes in the daf competition and took first and second place (and fourth) in the amud competition! On the daf testing, Yair Caplan finished in first place with a perfect score of 100, while Yehuda Goldberg and Yitzy Weiss tied for second place with scores of 99. On the amud testing, Yehuda Snow took first place with a score of 97.5, and Shlomo Fink took second with a score of 96.25. David Tanner was awarded honorable mention with a score of 95.
