MTA Varsity Hockey Lions Defeat Hillel Heat

On Saturday night, December 29, the MTA varsity hockey Lions made the long trek down to Deal, to face off against the Hillel Heat. The game started off slow, with neither team scoring within the opening minutes. After penalties by both teams created a three on three, senior Daniel Landa shot and scored off a nice faceoff win by senior Ari Rosenberg to take a 1-0 lead. Later on in the period, Daniel Landa scored off of a faceoff win by senior Yaron Kahan. With a few minutes left in the period, Hillel scored to cut the lead to 2-1 to end the period. In the second period, Daniel Landa completed the hat trick and junior Aaron Borgen scored off a rebound to take a 4-1 lead. Towards the end of the period, Hillel scored again, cutting into MTA’s lead and making the score 4-2. In the third period, Daniel Landa scored his fourth goal, with two additional goals scored by Ari Rosenberg and junior Yosef Sullivan. Hillel scored two more goals and the final score was 7-4 MTA. Thanks to junior Andrew Cohen, who stepped in as emergency goalie to help lead MTA to victory.
