MTA Varsity Lions Basketball

The 2018-19 MTA Lions varsity basketball season was a time in which there was much success for the Lions on the court as well as enjoyable moments off the court. Whether it was hanging out as a team and coming close to winning the Glouberman Tournament in Los Angeles, winning the Tier 2 Sarachek championship or even creating the middle name for Coach Weissberg’s baby, there was plenty of excitement that took place for the Varsity Lions.

Although this year the Lions have an almost entirely different roster, they are looking for repeated success and have been working hard to be in shape and have their team chemistry flowing. The Lions will be led by returning senior guards Tzvi Zigelstein and Ikey Gutlove and big men Mendel Hein and Elie Goldberg. In addition, the junior class looks to be promising, which are headlined by junior varsity standouts Yosef Zakon, Tani Engel, Azi Goldberg as well as many other essential members of the roster.

The Lions all have a common goal of achieving success and believe that they have the talent to be capable of competing for a Yeshiva League championship, but more importantly, representing MTA as proper bnei Torah both in the way they play on the court as well and their actions and conduct off the court.
