Just before Pesach MTA held a 3-on-3 Basketball tournament fundraiser to benefit KosherTroops. It was organized as a chesed activity by the Leadership Institute, the special community leadership program directed by Rabbi Shalom Richter. A few dozen students paired up in groups of three and participated in the tournament during lunch in The MAX. All of those who played donated money to KosherTroops, an organization that provides kosher food for Jewish soldiers in the American army. This is especially helpful during Pesach, when many soldiers would otherwise not have matzah and kosher for Pesach food. After all was said and done, the team of Aaron Saxon ‘17, Josh Klein ‘17 and Max Herskowitz ‘17 took home the championship, but all the participants enjoyed playing ball for such a worthy cause.
