Mrs. Kopitnikoff’s ninth grade English classes launched their Shakespeare unit by creating their own hybrid dialogues to appreciate the evolution of language and begin to understand Shakespearean vernacular. They then dove into reading “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with plenty of activities to bring the play to life, including truth or dare challenges, “line find” scavenger hunts, spontaneous props and a lot of theme analysis. For many girls, it was their first time reading Shakespeare, and they realized how timeless and humorous his plays can be.
