Last weekend, Naaleh High School for Girls celebrated its second annual shabbaton in Passaic. All aspects of the program focused on connecting students to one another, to Naaleh’s values, to the greater community and to our collective heritage. The fun began on Friday with student-selected trips to various chesed destinations in the community. At Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey, students either stocked the food pantry or wrapped donated gifts for struggling families. At Care One, students made a Chanukah party for the residents, complete with crafts and a musical concert. All students joined at High Exposure Rock Climbing for lunch and bonding with faculty and grade madrichot. Shabbat programming was held in Young Israel of Passaic Clifton, and included a stellar lineup of speakers including Rabbi Yaakov Glasser, Rabbi David Markowitz and Rabbi David Einhorn. The meals were full of energy, singing, divrei Torah, games and connection. The grand finale included a melave malka at the Nickelodeon Universe theme park in the American Dream mall! Full of meaning, inspiration, fun and warmth, the shabbaton captured the spark of Naaleh.
