After rigorous preparation, the 10th grade engaged in a student-led Socratic seminar in their English classes, discussing the memoir “I am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai. Using extensive research to back up their arguments, the students examined and debated issues including the importance of education for women around the world, how a lack of education affects developing countries, and the ability to influence society at a young age. The vibrant and respectful discussion demonstrated the students’ abilities to express their ideas with maturity and sophistication.
