On Monday, November 1, Naaleh staff had the opportunity to choose between three professional development workshops to get hands-on experience with strategies to help meet the diverse needs of their classrooms. In “The Playing Field: Using Games to Create an Engaging and Exciting Classroom,” educator, digital artist and game creator Sari Kopitnikoff led a hands-on exploration of play in the classroom. Devorah Wasserlauf and Oria Kay, Naaleh’ s Learning Center specialists, led a workshop on “Tips and Tricks from the Trenches: Practical and Effective Practices for Teaching Lower Tracks.” In “Socratic Method for Student-Led Learning and Holistic Assessment,” Andrea Karten, one of Naaleh’s English teachers, modeled the use of Socratic seminar for deeper and more engaged learning. The entire staff is invigorated and excited to implement these new tools and strategies with their students.
