Nefesh Yehudi Academy Travels to Tel Aviv

Nefesh Yehudi Academy, the after school Judaic Studies program for students attending the Hebrew Language charter school in East Brunswick, (virtually) traveled to Museum of the Jewish People—Beit Hatfutsot in Tel Aviv on Monday May 4.

Itmar Kremer, director of the Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood at the museum gave students, their parents and grandparents—who tuned in from Baltimore, Toronto, Teaneck, Fort Lee, Boca Raton, and Ra’anana—an insider’s look at the giborim exhibit at the museum. The families learned about heroes such as Albert Einstein, Jonas Salk, Theodore Hertzel and Rosalind Franklin. When asked what they felt makes a hero, Libby Peckman, fifth grader from Highland Park, said “Mr. Kremer said that everyone on the call is a hero and he was right because we can each do our part to help the world. Staying home and staying safe.” Yshai Yavin, father of five from East Brunswick said, “The program was amazing, Very interesting and engaging.” Jerry Tollisnky, a zeide from Toronto, said “The children were so cute, some of their answers to the questions showed that they have grown from this experience.”

Elie Haller Salomon is the program director of Nefesh Yehudi Academy.
