Netanyahu Among Five Leaders Americans Admire Most

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is one of the leaders most admired by Americans, a new Brookings Institution poll revealed.

Poll respondents were asked to “list the five American or international leaders that you most admire.” US President Barack Obama came in first, being named by 16% of respondents. The late former President Ronald Reagan came in second with 7% and Netanyahu came in third with 6%. Pope Francis and Russian President Vladimir Putin came in fourth and fifth.

Among Evangelical Christians, Netanyahu came in first at 16%—ahead of Reagan (11%) and Obama (10%).

A total of 1738 panelists completed the survey including a national sample of 875 adults, plus an oversample of 863 self-identified Evangelical or born-again Christians, making for a total sample of Evangelicals/born-again Christians of 1074. Responses were weighted by age, gender, income, education, race and geographic region using benchmarks from the US Census.

Last year, Netanyahu ranked 21st on the Forbes list of “The World’s Most Powerful People.”
