Netivot Plants Seeds For New Garden

The Let’s Grow! garden project has generated much excitement as children and teachers look forward to this ongoing engagement with nature. At Netivot, stewardship, mindfulness and respect for Hashem’s world are deeply ingrained values. What better way to further cultivate these traits than a garden? On Tuesday, October 15, the last day of school before Sukkot, students and their families began this joyful journey by planting garlic in the garden beds that will be harvested and used to make garlic confit and sold to raise additional money for ongoing garden projects. They also began potting plants to be kept indoors, such as beets and spinach, and various fragrant herbs like lavender and lemongrass. In anticipation of Sukkot in future years, the children began germinating the seeds for an etrog tree and preparing roots for an aravot bush! In addition to planting, the Netviot community enjoyed activities like collaborative tin pot painting, forming huge bubbles, creating fruit kabobs, feeding chickens, raking leaves for compost and stringing beads for sukkah decorations. The vibes going into Sukkot were upbeat and joyful. V’samachta b’chagecha!
